Family Science Weekend 2023 as part of the UC-HSI-DDI Doctoral Diversity Program will occur September 8th – 10th, 2023. We look forward to welcoming ten (10) Ph.D. seeking graduate students from the Applied Math; Chemistry and Biochemistry; Computer Science and Engineering; Electrical and Computer Engineering; METX; BME; and MCD departments as well as their family members for a fun and exciting weekend discovering what pursuing a Ph.D. is all about; what doors it can open; and more.

FSW 2023 Schedule

Please find the detailed schedule below for FSW 2023. For Chemical Screening Center (CSC) tours, Student-led campus tours, and programmatic Interview Slots, please refer to the student assignments BELOW each timeslot. Participating students are expected to guide their families to each location to ensure they are present for the CSC Tours and Programmatic Interview Slots; please be on time! FSW 2023 Transportation

All Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) participating in FSW 2023 will receive Lyft Event Code(s) to utilize during Family Science Weekend for them and their families. These event codes are specific to FSW locations and can be used throughout the weekend.

FSW 2023 Evening Activities

Following the conclusion of the day’s activities on Saturday 09/08, GSRs and their families will request a Lyft using their Event Code to be transported to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for dinner and an evening with their families to bond and discuss their experience. Meal cards as well as ride wristbands will be available for pickup inside the Season Pass and Group Services office which is located next to the main Boardwalk entrance next to Neptune’s Kingdom.

FSW 2023 Return Transportation

Please be sure to utilize your FSW Lyft Event Code to request rideshare to the airport on 09/10. All participating families have airfare arranged and should refer to their individual ticket(s) to confirm what time they will need to be at the airport for their respective flight(s).
