CIRM Predoctoral Training Program Accepting Applications

We are delighted to announce the opening of applications for the CIRM Predoctoral Training Program at the Institute for the Biology of Stem Cells (IBSC) at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC). This program offers opportunities for Ph.D. students to receive training and support in the field(s) of stem cell research, regenerative medicine, and other CIRM research priorities.

How Long is the Program?

CIRM Predoctoral fellows (Ph.D. students) receive an initial 12-month support; with the opportunity for renewal on a non-competitive basis for a maximum 36 months of support (3-year total program length). Renewal is determined on an annual basis, based on program compliance, participation, and research progress.

What Resources Are Provided?

CIRM Predoctoral fellows receive a range of financial support to facilitate their research and professional development. For the 2024 Program Year, the resources provided are as follows:

  1. Stipend towards GSR-ship: $36,000
  2. Stipend towards Tuition and Fees: $9,600
  3. Stipend towards laboratory supplies and conference travel: $6,000

Eligibility Criteria

The CIRM Predoctoral Training Program welcomes applications from Ph.D. students who are dedicated to conducting research aligned with CIRM’s mission of accelerating treatments for patients with unmet medical needs. The program particularly encourages students considering a career in stem cell research and related areas to apply. Both US and international graduate students are encouraged to apply, broadening the program’s diversity and fostering a global community of aspiring stem cell/regenerative medicine researchers.
